These Paws are Made for Walking
During their time at the ranch, the dogs are taught to wear a harness and take walks with caretakers to get ready for adoption. The goal every day is to get each and every one of the dogs out on a leash. It’s a lofty goal indeed with limited time and staff who are very busy making sure the dogs are fed and the yurts are clean and warm. And also, the weather and shorter days in the winter can be a hindrance. We do our best, but we could use some help.
Patience is mandatory as these adorable pups discover all the new scents that nature provides and experience a release of endorphins that they may not have experienced in their time in the lab. And while they are enjoying themselves, these walks provide an opportunity to train them to keep moving in the face of these glorious distractions. They are beagles, after all, and they can’t resist a smell of any sort - pleasant or not.
Consider volunteering at the ranch! Come up and spend some time walking dogs. We will train you on how to keep them safe and you both can get out in the beautiful Wyoming terrain and get some fresh air and exercise. Be a part of the journey these brave souls take in exploring, becoming happy and secure in the world and ready to go to their forever homes.
