Lizzo in Bitenot collar

Maude on the Mend

Often the pups arrive at Kindness Ranch with digestive issues, itchy skin and, more often than not, needing a thorough bath. For the most part though they are remarkably healthy. Katy, our dynamo of a Veterinary Care Coordinator at the ranch, spends many a day chauffeuring various animals back and forth to the veterinarian in Wheatland. Laramie Peak Veterinary Associates has
been a strong partner of the ranch for countless years. They perform spays and neuters, complete thorough preliminary exams, prescribe medication where needed and evaluate dietary restrictions. They are a critical part of the ranch, and their value and importance cannot be understated. We are eternally grateful to them.

Case in point: Maude came to us needing Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL)) surgery, and upon examination it was determined that a Tibial Tuberosity Transposition (TTT) was necessary too. After surgery, her movement was restricted for quite some time, and she had to wear the dreaded cone of shame. Katy immediately purchased her a BiteNot collar, allowing for less restricted movement and less inhibited vision. (Shown on Lizzo in the photo.) Maude was a happy camper throughout most of her recovery, albeit suffering from a bit of FOMO as she watched her friends run and frolic around in the yard. After eight weeks, Maude recovered and has found her forever home!
Professionalism, skill, kindness and compassion combined lead to a healthy, happy former laboratory research animal. With the help of our friends and partners in care, each and every animal will get their needs met in order to thrive in their new lives. Happy trails Maude!
