Hello from Dog Yurt 1

First Ever "Tails of the Ranch"

Hello from Dog Yurt 1 where I’m spending time with the nine dogs who are currently residing here together in complete harmony. They are out as a group in the shared space, and it is a joy to witness.

When the dogs arrive at Kindness Ranch and after they decompress a bit, the staff very carefully and with close supervision test them in pairs, triads and groups to ensure they get along, and then they are divided into play cohorts. This group of nine are all out together playing and enjoying each other’s company. One wonders what they are thinking, why some get along and others don’t, and why some of them are fearful and others not, but we’ll never be able to get into their heads, so we tell ourselves stories. In this case, their story is one of happiness, playfulness and joy in knowing that they are free and can frolic (and nap) to their hearts' content.

Keeping the dogs comfy and warm requires a lot of blankets which, as you can imagine, need a lot of cleaning. Our machines run all day long as we rotate dirty with clean bedding. A washing machine and dryer can only hold so much and work so long before it breaks down, so limiting use would be very helpful, and we can do that with a few items – waterproof couch covers and dog bed covers. Our wishlist on Chewy contains a few to consider.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our animals safe, comfortable and happy!
