We’re launching a new podcast: Dogs: Beyond the Lab
“Stories of second starts, where research animals and humans begin again together.”

Adopting a former research animal can be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences a person can have. Through honest conversations with experts, adopters, and others in the community, Dogs: Beyond the Lab explores what it really means to help these dogs adjust to life beyond the lab.

We’ll share the laughter, the tears, the setbacks, and the victories, along with practical insight and encouragement for anyone touched by this journey.

You don’t need to have a former research dog in your home to belong here, and you don’t need to be planning an adoption. Many of the challenges and triumphs are universal, which means there’s something in this podcast for everyone.

This show is a collaboration between Kindness Ranch, Keeper and Kin, and The Beagle Alliance, three distinct organizations choosing to work together while keeping our own unique voices and missions. We believe that’s what healthy communities look like: aligned on outcomes, not competing for attention.

And just as important, this isn’t simply the three of us talking for an entire episode. Each episode will feature a real person from the community, an adopter, a supporter with a former research dog, someone willing to share the honest version of their journey: the challenges, the heartbreaks, and the wins.

Why does that matter? Because these stories help other people feel less alone. They help potential adopters understand what to expect. They help new adopters get through the hard weeks. And they help experienced adopters realize they’re not the only ones navigating the same issues.

Combined with the experience of all three organizations, every episode can offer guidance, solutions, and expert context, and that guidance becomes searchable and archived on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and Google for years to come.

This is the community making a lasting, helpful resource possible, one that keeps bringing the right people closer to this mission for years.
