Wylie and Bruce
Wylie and Bruce reached the safety of Kindness Ranch in early March. These cute little beagles had been at the Montcalm Animal Shelter in Stanton, Michigan, where they were at high risk of being transferred to R and R Research. This notorious outfit is a Class B dealer, a USDA-licensed broker that gets animals from flea markets, “free to good home” newspaper ads, and shelters like Montcalm County’s — then sells them to laboratories and veterinary schools for experimentation. After the experiments were over, Wylie and Bruce – like most dogs in that situation – would most likely have been euthanized.
Tereasa Michalak, a retired police officer and animal rescuer, and Kindness Ranch Co-Director Karen Straight, had been in contact for months about the situation in Montcalm. Tereasa pulled Wylie and Bruce out of the shelter to have them come to Kindness Ranch.
Wylie and Bruce couldn’t have been saved without the assistance of local rescue groups. Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary helped with quarantine and testing. Grand River Rover Rescue works hard to rescue Montcalm dogs. And dedicated people like Tereasa pull dogs from the Montcalm pound and help transport them to safety.
Now these two lucky dogs are safe and free and hoping someone like you will give them the care and attention they deserve!
