Courtesy Posting: Hank

1257 Hank 3 *Hank the beagle is with our friends at PawsCo in Denver, CO.

Well hello! I’m Hank and I’m proud to be a beagle.

Why wouldn’t I be? Snoopy was a beagle, for goodness’ sake. Charles Darwin sailed around the world on the HMS Beagle. A beagle named Uno was “Best in Show” at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2008, and Miss P reclaimed that title for us in 2015. Everybody loves us!

That’s why I am just so happy to find my loving forever home! I can’t wait to bring tons of love and laughter to a wonderful family of my own. And I can tell you right now… you’ll just love spending so much time with me! I love lying on the couch next to somebody, goofing around with squeaky toys (even fetching!), or making people smile by hiding my nose under blankets or pillows. I’m one of those special dogs who even sleeps through the night!

Rascal

Rascal 874
Rascal is a shy guy who is still learning how to trust new people. He is friendly with them, but it takes him some time to warm up, and he gets pretty worried about unexpected noises or movements. Rascal does like to play with his beagle friends, though he gets nervous when larger dogs try to play with him, and we would like him to go home with another confident, easy-going dog to help show him the ropes of life outside the lab. He is still working on house training and walking on the leash, and is improving with both each day. Rascal will need a quieter home where his new family will spend plenty of time working with him to help build his confidence and enjoy life to the fullest. We know he can thrive in just the right home, and we can't wait for them to find him!

Rollins

Rollins 08 *Adoption Application Pending*

Rollins has so far been one of the more outgoing of our newest beagles. He likes visiting with people, and thinks they are especially interesting when they have food! This five-year-old also likes to play with toys, and with other dogs – even the big ones! Rollins is very food-motivated, which is great for training, but he will also guard his food against other dogs, so care will need to be taken if he goes to a home with other dogs. He has been walking well on the leash almost from the beginning, and could probably make a good adventure buddy someday. We think Rollins could do well in almost any home, with or without other dogs, as long as he gets enough attention and exercise. He doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but would probably learn to enjoy them, too! We know the right home is out there to give Rollins the life outside the lab he deserves – we hope they find him soon!

Octavia

Octavia 06 Octavia is a sociable and lovable girl who really knows how to ham it up. She loves to visit with people, and will even push other dogs out of the way to get to them! She is very food motivated, which is great for training, though she does not want to share with other dogs. She also has a bit of a sensitive stomach, but she does great with just kibble or plain cheerios for training. Octavia is doing well with her crate training, and has only had a few overnight accidents so far. She is also doing well on the leash and has been going for longer walk than some of her beagle friends. Even though most of our dogs do better when there is another dog in the home, we think Octavia would be fine as the only dog. She likes to be the center of attention, and will need a family who can spend a lot of time with her. She is a lot of fun to have around, and would probably love to participate in a training class with her people. She will make a great companion for one very lucky family!

*Octavia does have a small medical concern that we are in the process of addressing, but she could go home if an adopter is willing to follow up with their own vet. If you are interested, please contact us for more details.

JJ

JJ 01 JJ is a sweet boy who is still a little unsure of all of the recent changes in his life. This six-year-old is a curious guy, but still somewhat tentative of people. He will sometimes ask to be pet when you are sitting quietly, but does get nervous with fast movements or unexpected noises. JJ loves toys and playing with other dogs, though, and that’s when we can see is true personality shining through! He has recently become braver on the leash, but it is still a work in progress, and his new family will need to be patient with him while he keeps learning. He is most comfortable when he is around other dogs, and we think it would be best for him to go home with a confident and tolerant dog who can act as a mentor to him. We also think JJ would prefer a quieter home with older or no children, at least to start. He will need a very special and understanding adopter who is willing to spend the time helping him work through his fears, but we are sure he will reward them with unconditional love and adoration!

Elwyn

Elwyn 03 Elwyn is a shy little girl who likes other dogs but is still getting used to being around people. She can take some time to warm up to new people, especially, but she is starting to learn to trust. She is walking on the leash, and is a curious girl who likes to explore around the back yard and new places. This seven-year-old girl is food motivated, which helps with training and teaching her that people = good things! We haven’t heard her make a lot of noise yet, but that doesn’t mean she won’t find her voice soon – she is a beagle after all! Shy dogs like Elwyn often do better when there is another confident, friendly dog in the home. She probably would not be comfortable around small children or in a busy house with lots of commotion, as she can be skittish with loud noises and fast movements. She will need a very special, calm, and patient home to help her work through her fears, but we’re pretty sure she’d make it worth it!

Abel

Abel 84 *Abel has special medical needs that will require ongoing vet care and lifetime medication. Please read on for more information and contact us using the information below with any questions.

Abel is a sweet and gentle boy who is looking for a best friend to be by his side through thick and thin. He is having a good time here at the ranch, hanging out with his canine friends and soaking up the attention from all the staff and visitors, but it would be even better if he could find a family of his very own! This seven-year-old charmer has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy, but he definitely doesn’t let it get him down, and he still enjoys all of the fun things life outside the lab has to offer. He can often be found exploring the back yard with his beagle nose (in nice weather, of course!), cuddling with one of his buddies, or playing with one of his favorite toys. But what he especially likes is spending time with his favorite people, and he would be very happy to lay on the couch with you while you watch your favorite TV show marathon any day of the week! With the proper care from an attentive and considerate adopter, Abel will be able to live the full and happy life that he deserves. We are looking forward to the day that he finds his happily ever after!

Hank

Hank smile
Hank is a fun-loving boy with a big personality and lots of love to give! This sweet boy can be a bit timid at times, but when he is comfortable it doesn’t take long for the puppy in him to come out. He is quite energetic and loves to play with toys and other easy-going dogs, and can often be found running zoomies in the backyard or wrestling with his friends. But what he likes more than anything is to hang out with his favorite people! Hank is currently spending his time here at the ranch learning all about living in a home and working on his manners. He is crate-trained and walks great on the leash, and he would love to find a family who will continue his training. Hank will need a home with no cats, but would probably enjoy having a canine sibling or two. Hank can’t wait for his new best friend to find him!

Hannah

Hannah 288

Hannah is a smart and active dog who will need a very special person in her life to help her reach her full potential. This almost-two-year-old is looking for someone who knows all about the needs of a clever and high-energy dog and is willing and able to keep her busy. We know this girl will be great at agility or other fun activities where she gets to work one-on-one with her favorite person! She loves to get out and about and to go for walks, and would make a great adventure dog for an experienced and attentive handler. Hannah would be happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog, or living with fun canine friends who will put up with her antics, but she will need a home with no cats or other small critters. We know that the perfect family for Hannah is out there, and we sure hope they find her soon!
