Thank you for your interest in adopting from Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary!
All of the animals at Kindness Ranch have previously been used in laboratory research and are most deserving of a forever home! Here at the ranch our dogs and cats receive round-the-clock care in a home-like environment to help them transition from the lab to family life. Our experienced staff members live with the dogs and work daily on socialization, crate training, house training, leash walking, and other basics. Kitties receive an abundance of play time, trees for climbing, an outdoor space for exploring, and socialization with other cats and visitors. Our hope is that all of these animals will eventually be adopted and find their happily ever after!
We are dedicated to the training and rehoming of these animals, and do our best to ensure they will be successful in their new homes. This process isn't limited to the guidance and socialization the animals receive here, but also includes counseling potential adopters on the challenges they may face when taking these animals home and doing our best to help them find a good match for their family.
Because these animals usually come to us directly from a lab, they know very little, if anything at all, about living in a house when they arrive at the ranch. Those made available for adoption are ones that we feel are ready to make the transition into a forever family, but that does not mean that the training and socialization process is over. We will spend as much time as we feel is necessary to ensure that our adoptive families have the information and tools they need to do right by their newest family members!
Our adoption fee for all dogs is $150. They are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on rabies and DAPPv shots. They will also go home with a collar, leash, and harness if needed.

All potential adopters must fill out our Adoption Application. It asks for basic information about your residence, family, and lifestyle so that we can help you find the best match for your home. If you are interested in a specific animal, we suggest that you contact us before submitting an application to ensure the animal you are applying for is still available. (We do our best to keep our website updated, but sometimes we may be a day or two behind.)
Once an application has been submitted, it typically takes 2-3 business days to process (we will notify you if we anticipate a delay). If you have listed a specific animal on the application that does not have any previous inquiries, that animal will be placed on hold for you during this time and any subsequent applications on that animal will be put on a waiting list.
Please note that submitting an application does not necessarily guarantee an adoption nor does it guarantee your claim to a specific animal. We do our best to be fair and will consider all applicants in the order we are contacted, but it is of the utmost importance to us that we find the best-fitting home for each of our animals.
We use the information provided on the application to determine if the animal of your choice, or any of our other available animals, would be a good match for your family. There are no right or wrong answers, but every animal has different needs and our first priority is to ensure those needs can and will be taken care of in an adoptive home. Depending on the animal you are interested in, there may be restrictions on the homes they can be placed into, or specific requirements for meeting and/or adopting them based on their circumstances.
Once we have processed the application we will contact you if we have any questions and/or to discuss the next steps. For all applicants, we will request either a home visit or pictures of your residence to be sent to us, and we will make these arrangements at this time. We will also use this time to talk about any specific animal you may have indicated interest in and answer any questions you may have.
In addition to submitting an application, we require that all potential adopters schedule a visit to the ranch to meet and spend time with the dog or cat they are interested in. We require that all young children in the home participate in the visit, and strongly encourage families interested in a dog to bring any current household dogs, as well (in some cases this will be required). If there are any special requirements for meeting a specific animal, we will inform you of those during the application process.
It is possible to schedule a visitation before submitting an application, but please be aware that we will not be able to facilitate a same-day adoption if you choose to do so. In addition, there will be no pressure to make a decision at the time of your visit even if we have already processed your application.
If you are driving a long distance to visit, or just want to turn your trip into a mini-vacation, we have guest accommodations on the property that can be rented for overnight stays. You can get more information about the rentals and see pictures here.
